Jewelry Tips

Here are a few great Jewelry care tips that I thought Id share.

Sterling Silver
  • It is always best to put on your beautiful jewelry pieces, after you have applied, lotion, perfumes and hairsprays. These products can quicken the oxidation process, and coat or make your jewelry grimy.
  • There are also small tarnish shield papers that you can use to store with your jewelry to help retard oxidation.
  • Sterling silver can be cleaned by simply using a bright pad polishers (sold in my shop), silver polishing cloths or dipped in a silver cleaning solution, however the liquid solution will remove any intended antiquing that is on the piece of jewelry and should be used with caution.
Copper
  • Copper care is a lot like sterling silver with a few exceptions.
  • Copper should not be immersed in water for prolonged amounts of time.
  • Copper can be cleaned by using a sterling silver polishing cloth or bright pad polishers (like ones sold in my store)
  • If a patina color has been applied to copper it is best not use any kind of polishing products, as it will remove the color that has been applied.
  • Copper can be spray coated with a lacquer that will help preserve the lighter color of copper, however the beautiful, rosy, earthy tone of aged copper is also very desirable.
